The Wendland Historical Society of 1905 (WGAV) is a nonprofit organization. It promotes interest in the history and archaeology of the Hanoverian Wendland region. It owns valuable historical and
archaeological collections, which are now primarily housed in the Amtsturm Museum Lüchow (the Amtsturm tower and the new
museum building). The Society operates the museum, while the city of Lüchow (Wendland) owns the Amtsturm. The new museum building is owned by the Society. Our Goals:
- Research and Education on the History of the Wendland
- Organizing public lectures, readings, exhibitions, and excursions
- Maintaining and curating the museum in the Amtsturm and the new museum building
- Preserving, expanding, and presenting our historical and archaeological collections
- Fundraising to support the association’s goals.
